Abilene Zoo Unveils New Exhibits & Characters to Kick Off Madagascar Expansion Campaign
The Abilene Zoo would like to invite the public to the unveiling of a new experience for visitors to enjoy. ZooCrew is a cast of five characters ready to lead kids through interactive learning exhibits called Expedition Madagascar. Thanks to the generous support of our energy partner Reliant, and H-E-B, this unique experience will serve as an entertaining and educational introduction to the Zoo’s
next phase of expansion; Journey to Madagascar.
Please join us Friday, March 8th at 10:00 a.m. at the Abilene Zoo for our official ZooCrew: Expedition Madagascar ribbon cutting, as well as a formal introduction to our new ZooCrew characters.
Guests can choose to enhance their ZooCrew: Expedition Madagascar experience and become a member of the ZooCrew through the $45 purchase of an Exploration Kit, packed with educational tools and activities.
Each new ZooCrew member will also be invited to an exclusive ZooCrew preview party celebrating the opening of the Abilene Zoo’s new Journey to Madagascar exhibit, launching in 2021. Each ZooCrew member will also have their name featured permanently at the Journey to Madagascar exhibit.
Journey to Madagascar will bring Ring Tail Lemurs, Red-Ruffed Lemurs, and Fossa to the Abilene Zoo. Visitors will also enjoy a variety of birds in a new aviary exhibit, and the current Karibu Outpost will be transformed into a home for reptiles, invertebrates, and amphibians, including Madagascar hissing cockroaches, and golden mantellas.
Please join us Friday at the new Camp Malagasy, located near Giraffe Safari inside the Abilene Zoo. Exploration Kits will be available for purchase, and we’ll take you on our first official journey through Expedition Madagascar!
