  1. Super Storytime: Goldilocks and the Three Bears

    August 7, 2020, 11:00 AM - 11:45 AM @ 1st Floor, Story Room

Gear up for a wonderful Super Storytime session at your Main Library. In one of the last programs of the Summer Reading Club, we’ll be following along with the fairy tale theme by hosting a storytime event on one of our favorites, “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” As we all know, the curious little girl stirs up a lot of trouble at the three bear’s house and you’ll find out what she did at this event. Come listen to some great stories and sing some songs. Finally we’ll have a cute Bear Mask craft fit that you’re more than free to color and make at home. Limited seating will be available to the first 25 participants to meet the regulation of no more than 50% capacity of the room. For more information, contact Ellene Cudd at 325-676-6067.

    August 20, 2020, 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

If you’re looking to be part of a book club, join the virtual version of our Cover-to-Cover Book Club hosted on Zoom online. For this month, our featured book will be “Dragonfly” by Liela Meacham. In this book, at the height of WWII, a handful of idealistic young Americans receive a mysterious letter from the government, asking them if they are willing to fight for their country. The men and women from very different backgrounds - a Texan athlete with German roots, an upper-crust son of a French mother and a wealthy businessman, a dirt-poor Midwestern fly fisherman, an orphaned fashion designer, and a ravishingly beautiful female fencer - all answer the call of duty, but each for a secret reason of her or his own. They bond immediately, in a group code-named Dragonfly. There will be two meetings hosted this day, one in the afternoon and the second in the evening. The Zoom link will be sent to registered attendees the day of the book club meeting.
