    As a new activity this summer, families are invited out to the Adamson-Spalding Storybook Gardens for regular Stories in the Park sessions. Join your South Branch Library staff as we share some of the greatest stories and activities ever on the grassy knoll next to the stage. At this session we’ll be watching 2004’s “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.” In this installment, Harry, Ron, and Hermione return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for their third year of study, where they delve into the mystery surrounding an escaped prisoner who poses a dangerous threat to the young wizard. This film is rated PG for frightening moments, creature violence and mild language, and has a run time of 2 hours and 22 minutes. At this session we’ll be showing 2018’s “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” starring Eddie Redmayne and the rest of the fantastic cast. In this sequel, in an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans of raising pure-blood wizards to rule over all non-magical beings, Albus Dumbledore enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help though he’s unaware of the dangers that lie ahead.   38. Zoo Lady Visit

    Join us for the first of three visits from Joy Harsh (aka the Zoo Lady) who is the Education Curator at the Abilene Zoo and visits the library each summer to teach youth about different kinds of animals from the Abilene Zoo. If you love animals, you’ll certainly want to attend. We don’t know what she’ll be bringing, but she will bring a different set of animals to each of the branches. Learn about them at your library and then get the chance to meet them up close and personal at the end of each session. Don’t miss out on the animal fun!

  40. Harry Potter Craft & Movie: "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"

    Join your Main Library for a summer of Harry Potter fun during the Summer Reading Club. Each week we’ll be watching an installment of the series, making a craft to go along with the featured film, and having fun with this popular movie franchise. At this session we’ll be watching 2004’s “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.” In this installment, Harry Potter finds himself competing in a hazardous tournament between rival schools of magic, but he is distracted by recurring nightmares. This film is rated PG-13 for sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images, and has a run time of 2 hours and 37 minutes. Feel free to bring in your own snacks and drinks, and be sure to come out and have some Harry Potter fun with us every week!
