    Join us for an afternoon of gaming fun! Designed for both new and experienced players, gamers from their tweens to adults are welcome to be a part of this weekly meetup where we gather to play the Pokemon Card Game. Pokemon has something for everyone, so come out, bring your cards, and be ready to battle it out at your library. Instruction will also be available for those interested in learning how to play, and once you do, you’ll be challenging everyone else in no time. Limited seating will be available to the first 35 participants to meet the regulation of no more than 50% capacity of the room. For more information, contact Alyssa Crow at 325-698-7565.

  2. Virtual Book Club: Mystery Mondays

    Everyone loves a good mystery, right? Join your Abilene Public Library for this virtual book club Mystery Monday session and share about what current mystery books you’re reading. It can be set in the present day, 200 years ago, in the old west, or in the future. It can be cozy or creepy, whatever you like. The book club will be limited to 10 people and those who register will be provided with a link to participate in this club online on Zoom.   3. H-E-Buddy Book Event

    July 14, 2020, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ 2nd Floor, Auditorium

    H-E-B is partnering with the Abilene Public Library to give the book, The Nuff, to families. The book has a positive message about how you are enough, featuring colorful artwork with a unicorn. In this come and go event, dress in your favorite costume to take a picture with Buddy, take home a unicorn activity, listen to a unicorn story, and participate in a unicorn treasure hunt. One book per family and open while supplies last. 50 people will be allowed in at a time to meet the capacity of the room. For more information, contact Ellene Cudd at 325-676-6067.

  4. Coloring Club for All Ages

    If you’re in need of a little stress relief and relaxation, we invite you to be a part of the Coloring Club at your South Branch Library. Coloring is a great activity for all ages and there are many benefits that can come from taking some time to express yourself through art. We’ll supply the coloring sheets, coloring tools, and more so you can come out, color, socialize, and have a little fun at your library.     Drop in to your South Branch Library and join in on a Saturday Matinee showing of a popular crime comedy flick with an all-star ensemble cast including Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Christopher Plummer, and more in 2019’s “Knives Out.” In this film, when renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey is found dead at his estate, the inquisitive Detective Benoit Blanc is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. From Harlan’s dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan’s untimely death. This film is rated PG-13 for thematic elements including brief violence, some strong language, sexual references, and drug material and has a run time of 2 hours and 10 minutes.
