    If you love to discuss books, and you’re looking for a new place to do so, join our BYOB (Bring Your Own Book) Club. This new club will let you read whatever books you like. Once you do ,you can then come out to discuss them at our club meetings. Join us for our first meetup at Mezamiz Coffee House and then continue to follow our meetings as we’ll host them at different coffee shops and venues in town. Then be ready to share your thoughts on what you’ve read. The theme for January is bring your current favorite book to share. Although this club is geared for adults, the books you choose can be from any genre, for any age, etc. It’s all about what you like.

We’ll supply chess boards for up to 20 players at a time, and if you’re new to the game and need some help with the basics, someone will be on staff to help you learn. Come challenge others in some friendly competition. All skill levels are welcome so come try out a gaming session for yourself.

    If you’re an avid reader, don’t pass up on being a part of the Cover-to-Cover Book Club at your Mockingbird Branch. Meeting on the third Thursday nights of each month, this group reads everything from fiction to nonfiction, classics to bestsellers. For this month, join us for our post holiday book exchange and party. We’ll have an appetizer for dinner and then get into a book exchange with everyone so we’re asking that you bring one gently used book (that’s wrapped) from home for the exchange, and a treat to share.

Registration is required to attend and we limit each session to 11 performers each performing for up to 5 minutes. If there’s time left at the end of the program, we’ll take walk-ins as well.     Catch a great new movie during our regular Saturday Matinee events at your South Branch library. For this session we’ll be watching 2021’s “No Time to Die,” the latest installment in the James Bond series starring Daniel Craig. In this film, 007’s post-retirement life in Jamaica is disrupted when an old CIA friend requests his assistance in rescuing a kidnapped scientist. The unexpectedly treacherous mission leads him to a confrontation with an enigmatic nemesis - and a dangerous new technology. This film is rated PG-13 for sequences of violence and action, some disturbing images, brief strong language, and some suggestive material and has a run time of 2 hours and 43 minutes. Feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks to enjoy.
