    Youth are invited out to your Mockingbird Branch Library for some LEGO Club fun. We’ll supply all the materials you’ll need to build whatever you can think of, and offer resources for all the different items you can build with these simple building blocks. We’ll spend the majority of the program working on our creations, and then we’ll reserve some time at the end of the program to admire what everyone has built.   2. Family Flix: "Abominable" (South Branch)

    Kids and parents are invited to join your South Branch Library for a great mid-morning movie. This time around, we’re watching the recently released Dreamworks movie “Abominable.” In this great adventure comedy, three teens must help a Yeti return to his family while avoiding a wealthy man and a zoologist who want it for their own needs. This film is rated PG for some action and mild rude humor, and has a run time of 1 hour and 37 minutes. Light snacks will be served, or feel free to bring your own snacks to the show.   3. Saturday Matinee: "Downton Abbey" (South Branch)

    Catch a great movie during the South Branch Library’s Saturday Matinee event where we play great hits. At this session we’ll be watching the theatrical adaptation of a popular British series, “Downton Abbey,” starring Matthew Goode, Elizabeth McGovern, and Maggie Smith. In this film, it follows the continuing story of the Crawley family, wealthy owners of a large estate in the English countryside in the early twentieth century. This film is rated PG for thematic elements, some suggestive material, and language, and has a run time of 2 hours and 2 minutes.     If you’re a fan of great music and movies, you’ll certainly want to attend the next Mockingbird Movies session as we’ll be showing a great flick from 2019 titled “Yesterday,” starring Himesh Patel and Lily James. In this film, a struggling musician realizes he’s the only person on Earth who can remember the Beatles after waking up in an alternate timeline where they never existed. He then becomes famous after taking credit for their songs. This movie is rated PG-13 and runs in at just under two hours long.   1. Abilene Trout Fest

    January 11, 2020, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM @ Cal Young Park

    The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and Abilene Parks and Recreation are hosting a free event to bring fishing fun to families from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, January. 11 at Cal Young Park in Abilene. Over a thousand rainbow trout will be stocked in the lake for this event and experts will be on hand to assist all levels of anglers in catching these colorful fish. Other fun activities include fish identification, casting, knot tying, and more. Hot dogs, chips, and hot cocoa will be provided for participants. Loaner tackle will be available for youth participants, but supplies are limited so participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment.
