  1. Beginning Embroidery (Main Library)

    January 9, 2020, 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM @ Basement, Makerspace

    Come learn something new at your Main Library with our Beginning Embroidery workshop. Embroidery is an art form and a way of decorating household linens or clothing and a way of hiding repairs to materials. This very versatile craft includes many simple stitches that can be used to personalize towels, clothes, pillowcases, etc. If it’s made of material, embroidery can embellish it. Try it out at the Main Library Creation Station as we’ll supply you with all the materials you’ll need to get started. For more information, contact staff at 325-676-6025.

    If you’re into LEGO building, don’t miss the next LEGO My Library session at your Main Library. This is the time where we layout a sea of LEGO and platform and then see what youth are inspired to create within an hour. Work on a project solo, or partner up with others for a joint project, there’s no wrong way to have fun. Youth under the age of 8 should be accompanied by an adult.     Everyone loves ArtWalk Night in Downtown Abilene as it’s the time the entire community can come out and participate in a host of fun activities throughout the streets and businesses of the area. Youth can feel free to drop by the Main Library for our ArtWalk Crafts session where we’ll supply all the materials to show them how to make their own Penguin Thermometers that actually work.     Toddler Times are a weekly storytime session aimed at youth ages 2-3, and parents. Led by children's staff at the library, these sessions will help prepare youth for longer stories in preparation for engaging in all other children's programming for older youth at the library such as Preschool Storytime, Family Fun, and Super Storytime events.
