  1. Free Tax Assistance

    February 27, 2020, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM @ 2nd Floor, Auditorium

    e-File your taxes for free with IRS-trained volunteers from the AARP through the annual Free Tax Assistance program running February 5 through April 11 at your Main Library and Mockingbird Branch locations. Guests are helped on a first-come, first-served basis and you should bring with you your Photo ID, Social Security Card, W-2s, a blank check, and all other tax materials you’ll need from 2019. Sessions will be hosted weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10AM to 3PM at your Main Library, Fridays and Saturdays at the Mockingbird Branch (same time). Sign-up for a spot starting at 9:30AM and continue to do so until all spots are filled. For more information, contact staff at 325-676-6025 or 325-437-7323.

    If you’re into LEGO building, don’t miss the next LEGO My Library session at your Main Library. This is the time where we layout a sea of LEGO and platform and then see what youth are inspired to create within an hour. Work on a project solo, or partner up with others for a joint project, there’s no wrong way to have fun. Youth under the age of 8 should be accompanied by an adult.     Toddler Times are a weekly storytime session aimed at youth ages 2-3, and parents. Led by children's staff at the library, these sessions will help prepare youth for longer stories in preparation for engaging in all other children's programming for older youth at the library such as Preschool Storytime, Family Fun, and Super Storytime events.

  2. Country Western Dance Lessons | Adaptive Recreation

    It's time to two-step on over to our country western dancing classes! This class teaches you how to Texas Two-Step, Waltz, Polka, Schottische, and more. All skill levels are welcome to join in our class, everyone will learn something! Classes will be held at Adaptive Recreation Services from 6:30 to 8:00 pm starting on February 27 and ending on April 9. It's $45 per couple or $33 per individual, and you can register online at www.abilenetx.gov/signup.

  3. Youth Dog Training Class

    February 27, 2020, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM @ Cobb Recreation Center

    This FUN class is designed for youth ages 6 to 15 and their dogs! This class will follow the format of the ALL FUR FUN class. It is designed for young handlers to test their abilities to work with their dogs and find fun ways to interact while trying several different dog sports! Each week you will get to try a different dog sport: - Obedience - Rally - Agility - Fitness - Scent - Barn Hunt For your dog’s safety, they must have completed all of their shots prior to the first class. You will need to bring proof of shots DHLPP + Rabies (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo, and parainfluenza) with you to the first class. **All breeds are welcome, as long as the Youth is able to maintain control of the dog at all times** Please bring a flat or training collar and a six foot leash, as well as any treats your dog loves! Maximum of 6 dogs per class, $65 per dog. Register online at the My Parks and Recreation website.
