  1. Youth Chess Club

    February 4, 2020, 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM @ Activity Room

    Tweens and teens are invited to be a part of the library’s Youth Chess Club, providing a great opportunity to learn and play chess in a supportive environment. At each session, youth will get the chance to socialize, learn about the club, develop skills and techniques for better play, watch demonstrations, and then try their hand at playing friendly games with their peers. Chess is a great game of strategy, and we invite you all to build up your skills at your library. Sessions will be hosted across all branch locations.     Lapsits are a weekly storytime series aimed at parents and youth ages 1-2. Led by children's staff at the library, they'll be on hand to share rhymes, music, short stories, and more that's designed to keep a child's interest. Parents are encouraged to join in on activities with youth as they grow.

  1. Basic Dog Manners Obedience Class

    February 4, 2020, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM @ Cobb Recreation Center

    This class is for dogs aged 7 months and up. For your dogs safety, they must have completed all of their puppy shots prior to the first class.You will need to bring proof of shots with you the first day of class. In this class, your dog will learn basic manners: Settle, sit, down, heeling, recalls, stays, touch, place and manners when meeting others. You will learn how to build a relationship with your dog that will keep him eager to work with you! This class focuses on accomplishing the elements to pass the CGC (AKC's Canine Good Citizenship) Test. The CGC test is offered, free of charge, to those participants who would like to test on the last day of class. Please bring flat or training collar and a six foot leash, as well as any treats your dog loves!

  2. Puppy Obedience Class

    February 4, 2020, 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM @ Cobb Recreation Center

    This class is for puppies aged 4-6 months. For your puppy's safety, they must have completed all of their puppy shots prior to the first class. The only exception is rabies prior to 6 months of age (as some veterinarians will not administer the rabies vaccine until 6 months). you will need to bring proof of shots with you the first day of class. In this class, you will learn training techniques that will seem like "fun and games" to your puppy but will actually be building a strong foundation of excellent manners! Your puppy will learn to sit, down, settle, begin the stays, and recall exercises, as well as, meeting strangers and being polite around other dogs. Your puppy will gain confidence through positive reinforcement and the gentle use of instability equipment. Please bring a flat or training collar and a six foot leash, as well as, any treats or kibble your puppy loves!
