Family Flix: "The Lion King"

Kids and parents are invited to join your South Branch Library for a great mid-morning movie. This time we’re watching 1994’s “The Lion King” with the voices of Matthew Broderick, Jeremy Irons, and James Earl Jones. In this film, lion prince Simba and his father are targeted by his bitter uncle, who wants to ascend the throne himself. This film is rated G for all ages and has a run time of 1 hour and 28 minutes. Pet Adoptions

If you or your family is on the hunt for the next furry love of your library, your Abilene Public Library is here to help. Join us at your Mockingbird Branch as we host a Pet Adoption program outside our doors. Thanks to our friends from the Abilene Animal Shelter, we’ll have some wonderful four-legged friends that will be looking for their fur-ever home, and perhaps that home will be with you. Don’t pass up on your chance to participate in this great adoption activity.

Saturday Matinee: "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Gindelwald"

Catch a great movie during the South Branch Library’s Saturday Matinee event where we play great hits. At this session we’ll be showing 2018’s “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” starring Eddie Redmayne and the rest of the fantastic cast. In this sequel, in an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans of raising pure-blood wizards to rule over all non-magical beings, Albus Dumbledore enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help though he’s unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. This film is rated PG-13 for some sequences of fantasy action and has a run time of 2 hours and 14 minutes. Feel free to bring your one food and drinks to enjoy!
