This month’s topic will be about planting vegetables and how you can get started. Learn more about choosing the right location to plant, how to select your veggies, how to prepare the soil, when to plant, and how to plant. Basically everything you need to know to successfully grow in our part of Texas. Come ready to learn, have a pen and paper for taking notes, and come with your questions to learn from our local Big Country Master Gardeners, and how you can get started.

  2. MLK Movie & Craft: "Selma"

    Join your Main Library for a free movie showing that will get everyone ready to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. and the amazing accomplishments he made throughout the course of his short-lived life. At this event we’ll be watching the movie “Selma” starring David Oyelowo as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In this film, it provides a chronicle of King’s campaign to secure equal voting rights via an epic march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, in 1965. This film is rated PG-13 for disturbing thematic material including violence, a suggestive moment and brief strong language. Following the movie, we’ll also have button making.

  3. Friday Fun Day: LEGO Challenge

    Your Mockingbird Branch is the place for kids to be on Friday afternoons as we host Friday Fun Day activities in our Activity Room. Each week we’ll offer a safe space for kids to come out and have fun at the library, as well as to express their creative side by building with LEGO. Come show off your building talents and skills by coming up with something you unique, or making a design based off of something you’ve seen. There’s no wrong way to have fun with LEGO.
