Dancing with the Abilene Stars pairs professional dancers with notable community members for an electrifying evening of competition. Our Dancers train for months leading up to the event and are competing for bragging rights and the coveted mirror ball trophy.

  2. Library Chess Meet-Up

    If you’re into chess, we invite you to meetup at your Main Library on Thursday afternoons for our weekly meetup. We’ll supply chess boards for up to 20 players at a time, and if you’re new to the game and need some help with the basics, someone will be on staff to help you learn. Come challenge others in some friendly competition. All skill levels are welcome so come try out a gaming session for yourself.

  3. STEAM Stories: Morse Code

    Join your Main Library for the next STEAM Stories where each event will feature a story kids will love, along with a STEAM activity or demonstration to go along with it. At this session,we’ll be learning all about Morse Code, which is a way for people to communicate before texting. We’ll learn about it through the book “Radio Rescue,” which is a story about a young boy who learns Morse code to talk to people around the world. One night he hears a signal from a family that needs help. After the story, we’ll write our names using Morse Code.
