Hoopla is a digital streaming service, much like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, that connects you with a wide selection of digital materials for use on your PC, smartphone, or tablet. Free with a valid library card, choose from popular movies, music, audiobooks, and eBooks and borrow up to eight titles each month. As this is a streaming service, materials are always available for checkout.

As this is a streaming service, you must be connected to Wi-Fi to access materials; however, you may temporarily download them to your device for offline use. Additionally, if you use Hoopla on a 3G/4G connection, please note you will be responsible the use of the data needed to stream materials. Hoopla is best used on Wi-Fi.

Loan Periods for Hoopla Materials
Items you check out on Hoopla have different loan periods. Once borrowed, you may access the titles throughout the duration of the loan period and it will then check itself back in.
Movies & TV Series = 3-Days
Music Albums = 7-days
eBooks = 21-days

Using Hoopla on a PC or Mobile Device

  1. App Users: Download the Hoopla app for your device. 
  2. Open the app or access the library's website (on PC) and click on the Hoopla logo.
  3. Choose the "Log In" button in the top right corner and sign in using your email address and password. First time users will choose the "Sign Up Now" button to set up a free account.
  4. Once logged in, search by a title, subject, author, etc., using the search box at the top of the screen, or you may browse through the selected headings provided.
  5. When ready to checkout a title, click the cover to access details on the item and then select the "Borrow" button. Once borrowed, your item will be ready to stream.

  • The library cannot reset your password, but if you access the Hoopla Log In Screen, you can choose the option "Forgot Your Password?" so Hoopla can help you retrieve it.
  • Yes, currently each episode of a TV show counts as one checkout. Hoopla doesn't allow you to check out an entire season of a show for viewing.
  • New titles are added on a regular basis by the company. The titles that are added are not established by library staff, but Hoopla will offer a great selection to supplement the public library's physical collection.
  • No, the Hoopla collection is established by the company itself. However, with a collection of over 200,000 titles, you're bound quite a few items to suit your preferences.
  • The majority of the time it's due to a slow Internet connection, especially if using a 3G/4G connection.
  • No, only one account on Hoopla can be established per library card. However, members of your family can register for a library card for free and then establish their own Hoopla account. Remember, Hoopla users must be at least 13-years-old to access this service.
  • Your checkout limits will reset themselves at the beginning of each month.
