Mockingbird Branch Library

Adult Collection and Computer LabThe Mockingbird Branch Library is the third branch location of the Abilene Public Library serving the community in northwest Abilene since 2009.  Located in the Edgewood Shopping Center, ample parking is available for all guests.

Entering the facility, guests are welcomed by the circulation services desk where staff is waiting to assist you in all of your library needs.  Here is where you can checkout and return library materials, register for a library card, use photocopying/scanning services, and pick up print jobs.

A computer lab is available for public use with a valid library card, granting access to the Internet and word processing tools.  Adequate seating is located throughout the facility with a welcoming reading nook located at the front of the facility, housing new library materials and bestsellers.

The children's area of the library houses a great collection of reading materials for beginning readers through middle school.  This area also houses adequate seating for youth, access to AWE Early Literacy stations for educational gaming in various subjects, our storytime corner led by children's staff, and puzzles and activities to keep youth busy in the library.  Juvenile materials are located next to the children's area with separate seating, along with children's audiovisual materials including DVDs and audiobooks on CD.

The Mockingbird Branch houses materials for reading in Spanish-language, including videos too.  This leads to the teen and adult collections housed on the tallest shelves in the back of the facility.  Popular reading materials are found in both fiction and nonfiction, and you'll also find more seating for the public as well as the audiovisual collection of DVDs and audiobooks.

This location also houses a Quiet Study Room available during library hours where patrons are free to use this area for studying and reading away from the public floor.  Staff work areas and public restrooms are located on the back wall of the facility, as well as the Activity Room where the majority of library programming is hosted.  This room has seating for 70 people and includes tables, access to a television and gaming consoles, projector, computer, and projection screen for presentations.  The public is able to rent this space for use, but priority is given to library programming.  To inquire about booking this room, speak with staff at 325-437-7323.
