Mercy Health Care Center
The Mercy Health Care Center is located at 1902 Shelton Street and provides various health services, such as prenatal & family planning services and STD testing and treatment.
Services Available
Early Prenatal Services
Eligible clients
- Female that is currently pregnant
- Meet income guidelines at or below 250% Federal Poverty Level (FPL)
- Texas resident
We will need proof of income and residency. Complete application at 1902 Shelton. Please call for an appointment.
Adjunctive Eligibility
Proof of Benefits Program with one of the following:
- Medicaid
- SNAP
- TANF
- WIC
Early Prenatal Services
- Early OB exam and labs
- Education
- Provision of Prenatal vitamins if needed
- Referral for ultrasound
Once approved for Pregnancy Medicaid, you will be referred to the Doctor of your choice to continue prenatal care and delivery.
Family Planning
Eligible clients
- Male or female, 64 years and younger
- Meet income guidelines at or below 250% Federal Poverty Level (FPL)
- Texas Resident
Will need proof of income and residency. Complete application at 1902 Shelton. Please call for an appointment.
Adjunctive Eligibility
Proof of Benefits Program with one of the following:
- Medicaid
- SNAP
- TANF
- WIC
Services of Family Planning
- Annual Exam
- Birth Control Method
- Lab testing / STD Testing
- Pap smear
Family Planning Services also available for self-pay clients and Medicaid clients with Traditional or Managed CARE Medicaid.
Healthy Texas Women (HTW)
Eligible Clients
- Are not pregnant
- Do not have any health insurance
- Meet income guidelines at or below 200% FPL (Federal Poverty Level)
- Texas resident
- U.S. Citizen or Legal immigrant
- Women 15 to 44 years
We will need proof of income, proof of citizenship and proof of Texas residency.

- Medicaid
- SNAP
- TANF
- WIC
Services of HTW
- Annual Exam
- Birth Control Method
- Lab testing / STD Testing
- Pap smear
Applications can be completed online at Healthy Texas Women or by phone at 211 or in person at 1902 Shelton.
Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Testing & Treatment
MERCY’s STI clinic offers comprehensive sexual health care that includes: education, prevention, testing and treatment. The cost of testing is $25.00 and includes: HIV, Syphilis, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia. Hepatitis C testing is also available, see below.
The clinic offers free STI testing on the first Monday of every month. At this time, all visits are by appointment only. Free condoms are available at any time.

PrEP
ATCPHD's PrEP program is located at MERCY Health Care Center. PrEP is when HIV-negative people take an oral pill once a day before coming into contact with HIV. PrEP must be taken for at least 7 to 20 days to reach optimal levels of protection.
